Sim Down Sundays -- Volume 5 (the I missed a week edition)

One of the bloggers that I stalk follow, Natalie, has started a Trim Down Thursdays challenge to motivate and document her weight loss success. I've decided to come out of hiding and link up with my journey, so here goes nothing!

Update from Last Week: Sorry for the hiatus. We were on vacation last week and I really lost the motivation to post, heck, I even lost the motivation to pay attention to what i was eating. Therefore...
Weigh In: Saturday, June 23, at meeting, 178.8 lbs, up 2.2.

My Weekly Motivation: I've lost my motivation for the last couple of weeks, but this week, that 2.2 is definitely making me want to climb back on the wagon.
Exercise: Nothing new.

Share the Wisdom of Others: Support from others is huge in getting where you want to be in a healthy lifestyle. That's why doing it with a friend/going to meetings (for me) is super helpful.
First Degree Goal: Pre-pregnancy weight of 172 pounds. Getting closer!!!

Second Degree Goal: Find an activity that I enjoy in order to add in some exercise. Still working on this...

Ultimate Goal: 140 pounds/feel good in my skin/fit in single digit size clothing.

kids

Sometimes I am torn between wanting more kid(s) and not wanting any. I think 2 would be a good number but at the same time I think 3 would be ok also. I used to tell people who wanted more than 2 kids they were crazy. In my head 2 kids was always what i pictured. When I got pregnant with monster I decided one was more than enough. god i hated being pregnant. I want monster to have a sibling. Mostly, i want her to have a sister because i never had one. but i want hubs to have a son... conflicted. If we had a second one and it was a girl, that would be perfect. If we then decided to have a third and it was a boy, even that much better. However, if the second one was a boy then good too. I went through monster's baby clothes this past weekend and it hit me bad for another baby girl... hubs says he'll do a self-vasectomy after #2 and we can't seem to agree on how much time in between kids...

Slim Down Sundays -- Volume 4

One of the bloggers that I stalk follow, Natalie, has started a Trim Down Thursdays challenge to motivate and document her weight loss success. I've decided to come out of hiding and link up with my journey, so here goes nothing!

Update from Last Week: I've been on plan now for 3 months, total of 14 pounds lost. That averages to about 1.1 pounds a week, which is good because it means it should stay off,

Weigh In: Saturday, June 9, at meeting, 176.6 lbs, down 1.4.

My Weekly Motivation: So many good for you fruit and veggies, it makes me want to eat healthier :-)

Exercise: Nothing new.

Share the Wisdom of Others: Big on activity again this week, must be a summer thing. Break your activity into 10 minute intervals because 10 minutes is how long it takes to get your heart rate up and your body all grooved up. Talked about setting a goal for the summer. There are 12 weeks until labor day. A very good time to set a goal and a reasonable amount of time to see a difference. My goal for this summer is to work on my arms. I need some toning and deflabifying :-)

Chickenbeans burrito salad (or my attempt at chipotle)

Chickenbeans burrito salad.

yum

Ingredients

For the chickenbeans
8 oz cooked chicken (I used leftover grilled chicken)
1 15-oz can black beans drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons salsa
1/4 cup water
garlic powder
cayenne pepper
salt & black pepper

For the salad
2 cups cooked brown rice
8-12 cups mixed greens (2-3 cups per person depending on how big you want the salad to be)
1 cup low fat shredded cheese (Colby jack or cheddar works well)
4-5 Tbsp plain fat free yogurt
1 cup salsa of your choice
1 avocado diced

Directions

For the chickenbeans... Put beans and chicken in saucepan over medium heat. Add salsa, water, and seasonings to taste, mix well, and allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes, until hot and all the flavors are incorporated.

Put 2-3 cups of mixed greens on 4 plates, top each plate with 1/2 cup rice, 2/3 cup chickenbeans, 1/4 cup cheese, 1/4 cup salsa, 1/4 of the avocado, and 1-1.5 tbsp yogurt. Add additional toppings (onions, scallions, jalapenos, crushed tortilla chips)  if you want. :)

*Update to this post, I have a butter baby!! We put a spoonful of butter in her apples last night and she gobbled them down like there was no tomorrow. So, we followed that up with some squash with butter and again, ate all of it!! What a girl, my butter baby :)

butter baby food

Monster had a checkup today. She is a tiny, tiny girl. 3rd percentile for height and weight. The doctor suggested that we put a spoonful of butter into her baby food jar and then give it to her. Sounds really weird to me. I looked at him like he was nuts. In my head i was thinking, are you sure? I mean, i know you're the doctor and all, but really? butter? really? or margarine or cheese for that matter... Still shaking my head over this one. I've read over and over not to give babies the extras, like butter or salt. Now he's telling me that I should. Ugh. Conflict. Why can't they (any by they i mean the universal they) pick one way to go and agree on it?

Has anyone else had experience with this? Monster needs to bulk up (lol like a weightlifter). I am going to research how to give my baby extra calories. The butter thing just seems a little odd to me. Any suggestions out there?

Slim Down Sundays -- Volume 3

One of the bloggers that I stalk follow, Natalie, has started a Trim Down Thursdays challenge to motivate and document her weight loss success. I've decided to come out of hiding and link up with my journey, so here goes nothing!

Update from Last Week: Nothing new to report this week. I lost weight but feel a little flabby/bigger... its kind of weird. I keep coming up with excuses to myself not to work out and I know I need to just quit it. I joined the WW LiveLifeActive Challenge this week and that means many other people will know when I get activity points or not... hold me more so accountable.

Weigh In: Saturday, June 2, at meeting, 178 lbs, down 1.4.

My Weekly Motivation:  I made blog-friends with Bethany and she became my first follower! Makes me want to keep on track, now that I know at least one other person is going to be checking out my journey...

Exercise: What's that?  Just can't seem to find it.

Share the Wisdom of Others: Talked about activity again this week. Exercise is good for more than just losing weight, it helps with general health and well being. It even helps your mood. My doc prescribed me exercise instead of my meds...
